Sarah moved into the quiet apartment building, hoping for a fresh start. She was tired of the chaos of her old life, the broken relationships, the constant noise. This place—simple, secluded, and peaceful—seemed perfect.

The first few days passed without incident. But then, she began to feel it. A presence.

It started subtly. A strange chill that would sweep over her as she passed the hallway mirror, a fleeting shadow just outside her window at night. At first, she convinced herself it was just her imagination, a product of her exhaustion. But then, she noticed something unsettling.

Every evening, as the sun set, the apartment across from hers would light up. A dim glow from behind the curtains. But no one ever entered or left. There were no sounds—no voices, no footsteps. Just the light.

One evening, Sarah decided to confront it. She knocked on the door of the apartment, hoping for an explanation. No answer. She knocked again, louder this time. Still nothing.

Then, her eyes drifted to the window. The light was on. And someone was standing behind the curtains, watching her.

Her heart raced as she stepped back, but the figure didn’t move. It just stood there, perfectly still.

The door to the apartment opened behind her. A woman, pale and trembling, stood there.

“You shouldn’t have come,” she whispered. “He’s always watching… even when you don’t see him.”

Sarah turned slowly, but the figure in the window was gone.
